At 26, John Sjöstrand was rejected by Oslo’s Michelin-starred restaurant “Le Canard,” being told he lacked the right qualifications to step into the kitchen. After three weeks of working for free, he was offered a position – and then excelled in the acclaimed restaurant kitchen for the next two years. Meet the former chef, now the hotel manager of the Villa, who has made it an art to exceed expectations. What are his ambitions for the Villa? And why won’t you find imported quail on the menu?

In 2024, Villa Strandvägen was awarded a fork by the Nordic restaurant guide “Falstaff Guide.” The Villa scored an impressive 84 out of 100 points, making it one of Sweden’s 100 best restaurants.
